If you’re a cycling enthusiast like me you will love cycle-route.com. It is a database of cycle journeys complete with map, difficulty rating, calories burned, comments, and more. Using the site is a tad tricky at first but just follow the instructions on the home page. It’s worth the effort.
This is the latest toy from Japan. It doesn’t sound as good as the real thing but full marks for the neat idea. I’ll be looking out for the second generation….
Last week, I wanted to buy a wii console as a birthday present for my partner who is a big fan of video games. It was his 50th birthday so I thought he deserved something bigger than what he usually gets (i.e. socks, ties, shirts)
I thought buying a wii console would be a question of an hour or less… Well, I ended up spending whole afternoon chasing after wii hearing the same “It’s out of stock and we don’t know when new supplies will arrive”. I finally gave up. When I did a search on the internet I discovered that I’m not the only frustrated shopper.
Although the normal price for a Wii console should be around $250 in the US there is only a small chance you’ll be able to get it for this price especially if you are not prepared for a long wait.
There are quite a few websites that have some good info that may be of value if you’re also planning to buy a wii. I found the Where To Buy Wii site especially useful because it gives a good break down of prices you should expect to buy wii console for as well as suggestion where to buy it.
If you are interested in making money online, then the TimJamesBrennan.com blog is a great place to start. It has lots of high quality lessons, tips, and news sourced from experts such as Ed Dale of the Thirty Day Challenge.
Speaking from experience, making a living from web businesses is too often both frustrating and fruitless. As far as I’m concerned, the quality of the teaching makes or breaks the success of budding internet marketers.
Chances are you’ve never heard about this small country in Central Europe but there is something what’s quite interesting about it’s Easter traditions, in particular the Easter Monday.
Many boys and men impatiently wait for this day (although it’s kind of ‘working day’ for them) and almost all women hate it …
If you happen to be in Slovakia on Easter Monday and you’re a woman, you better like being soaked and whipped (and it doesn’t matter if it’s freezing outside!). After you had buckets of water thrown over your head by your male friends and family members you are supposed to show your gratitude and give them something to drink (non alcoholic drinks are not permitted), plus a hand painted egg and possibly some money too!
This video will give you an idea what this tradition is about:
If you want to read more about this weird tradition, here is a good article describing the ‘watering & whipping’ process in full color as well as why they do it:
“An inevitable part of our Easter fun stems from a special willow cane which is hand-woven and decorated with colourful ribbons. Men pursue women brandishing the light branch, called a “korbáč” in Slovak, and use it to “whip” women on the legs when they catch up with them.” Read full article…

I just saw the most incredible video I’ve seen in ages. It was a lecture all about how DNA is going to completely revolutionise technology in the next few years and decades.
According to Dr Craig Venter, in around 5 years time DNA testing may well be available to the masses in order to prevent diseases that we are vulnerable to.
Even more important than fixing public health is the possibility of genomics saving the planet from global warming. Venter is currently working on a bacteria that can create methane out of raw sewage, thus turning waste products into a fuel.
If it all sounds too good to be true, I would say that just 20 years ago many never believed that computers would have such an huge impact. I would recommend this 45 min lecture not just to those interested in science, but to anyone interested in learning something new and exciting.
What happens when you reduce the world’s total population to a group of 100 people and keep the statistics the same? For that perspective you may view the thought provoking third version of the Miniature Earth Project. The Miniature Earth Project blog presents some interesting posts on the state of our world, too.
I found this interesting video of shaolin monks performing incredible stunts. These monks are skilled in “hard Qi Gong” discipline (Qi Gong = chinese martial art) turning their bodies into a steel jacket, resisting sharp spears and blows. There are many videos of such performances but the interesting point of this video are the 2 scientists which come in and try to explain how it’s done. They think that physics has something to do with it too…
While many shaolin gigs can be explained with physical laws, there are also many that can’t. Just go on YouTube and search for “Qi Gong” and you may be surprised what these guys are capable of. Personally, I’ve seen a shaolin performance last year where an 8 year old monk kid was hit on his unprotected head with a steel rod. It was quite a blow, that would normally kill any adult person. Nothing happened to the kid. Explanation? Mind over matters?(Note: In the video they’re talking about shaolin “kung fu” but actually the monks are practising Qi Gong)
Whenever I buy anything for my computer I consult the web to make sure that I am getting the best for my money. There are a few web sites that seem to churn out pretty decent reviews:-
